This fall, six people set out on a pilgrimage, a sacred travel, in a setting of prayer, reflection, and beauty within to a Benedictine community, located in the Pecos Wilderness area.
Each person traveled a different way on their journey, and asked to be "awake" to notice God in the coming and going along the way.
We were welcomed by our guides, Jerry and Nancy, to introduce us to the next part of our pilgrimage, the rhythm of community in Pecos.

The Benedictine rhythm is based around Prayer, Meals, Work and Rest, repeated throughout the day, and in some areas, throughout the night. Our schedule at Pecos was Morning Prayer (Lauds), Eucharist, Breakfast, Work, Rest, Mid-Day Prayer, Dinner, Rest-Free time, Evening Prayer (Vespers), Supper, Night Prayer (Compline), and Rest.
We chose how to spend our time during the day. Some worked in the Lavender Fields, some worked in the Chapel, some housecleaning in the convent, and others spent their time in mediation, all recognizing and respecting the boundaries and the wishes of the Brothers and the Sisters.
The Monastery is home to the Monks of Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey and the Olivetan Benedictine Sisters of Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey in community.
